Permanent Secretary Juusti will outline the procurement budgets and talk about financing options, regional incentives and matters related to the labor market. A moderated Q&A will follow the presentation in which you can bring up topics of specific interest with Permanent Secretary Juusti. You can also raise questions while registering.
Please join us for this inside view into the mechanics, ideas and future of the Ministry of Defence straight from one of the area’s key players.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence of Finland
Mr. Jukka Juusti, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence of Finland, was born in 1955 in the Municipality of Oulu in Finland.
Mr. Juusti received his Masters of Science degree in 1979 from Helsinki University of Technology (Electronics and Telecom) and his Masters of Defence Administration from Cranfield Institute of Technology (UK) in 1989.
With a somewhat strong background in the military, it was fairly obvious for Mr. Juusti to choose the Finnish Defence Administration to be his future employer. Mr. Juusti has held various positions in the Finnish Defence Administration, especially at the Defence Command level. Mr. Juusti has in addition served at the Mission of Finland to NATO and held the NADREP (EU/NATO/WEAG) position in Brussels from 1999 to 2003. From January 2008 until the end of 2010, he also held the position of Armaments Director at the EDA (European Defence Agency).
In February 2012, Major General Juusti retired from active service and from the Finnish Defence Command where he held the office of Deputy Chief of Staff (Logistics and Armaments). From March 2012 until the end of 2015, Mr. Juusti held the position of Director General of the Resource Policy Department and Finnish National Armaments Director (NAD).
With effect from 1 January 2016, Mr. Juusti was appointed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of Finland.
During his long career, Mr. Juusti has been granted several awards in recognition of his outstanding merits.
Mr. Juusti is fluent in English and Swedish and has a fairly good knowledge of German.
He is married to Mrs. Tuulikki Juusti and they have two grown-up children.
