Companies from Finland and the other Nordic countries now have an even better landing pad in the U.S. market as the Helsinki-based, b-to-b network Amcham Finland moves its New York operations into bigger premises in Times Square.
Poju Zabludowicz, Chairman of Tamares, the owners of 1500 Broadway, as well as the Foreign Minister of Finland, Timo Soini, were at the housewarming on Friday night with around one hundred guests and Amcham members. Mr. Soini spoke of the importance of global connections. Mr. Zabludowicz extended a warm welcome to the rapidly growing network to the “crossroads” of international business.
The move was initiated when the first office, inaugurated a year ago by President of Finland Sauli Niinistö, in the Financial District, soon grew too small for the growing operations.
Erika Sauer, who is Amcham Finland’s Managing Director for the U.S., and Kristiina Helenius, who is the group C.E.O., hosted the event.
“It is great to have concrete ways to support the growth and international expansion of SMEs. The Amcham Finland membership has really thrown its weight behind the Launchpad USA program. In just a year, we have had great success stories” says Erika Sauer.
Amcham will use the new base to launch several new services for growth companies hailing from Northern Europe. They will be released later this fall.
