Policy and Government Affairs Coordinator

Amcham Finland is a non-profit, non-governmental business association representing 200 companies from 13 different nationalities, actively investing in Finland and the United States. Established in 2005, Amcham is part of the global AmCham network present in more than 110 countries. As the voice for International Business in Finland, Amcham is committed to building a competitive business environment in Finland, and doing its part to minimize barriers to trans-Atlantic trade.

What we offer

At Amcham Finland, you’ll have the opportunity to work at the intersection of business, public policy, and international affairs. You will engage with leading global companies, senior decision makers, and experts from Finland, Europe, and the United States while helping strengthen Finland’s international competitiveness.

Our team works together to build a competitive international business environment in Finland and create opportunities for nearly 200 member companies. We have built a culture based on trust, learning, mutual dialogue, and teamwork, where everyone contributes individually while supporting our shared goals.

You will join a small, ambitious team where you will quickly take ownership of meaningful projects, develop an exceptional professional network, and gain exposure to senior business leaders, policymakers, diplomats, and government officials. We offer a dynamic, challenging, and flexible working environment that supports both your personal and professional development.

Your responsibilities

As Policy and Government Affairs Coordinator, you will support and help deliver Amcham Finland’s policy agenda, stakeholder engagement, and communications. Working closely with the CEO and the wider team, you will help strengthen Amcham’s position as The Voice of International Business while providing timely transatlantic insights to our members.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Amcham’s public policy and advocacy work by monitoring legislative and regulatory developments affecting Finland’s international business environment.
  • Coordinating Amcham’s policy working groups by preparing meeting materials, conducting research, identifying emerging challenges, and drafting policy papers and other advocacy documents.
  • Planning, with support from the team, events across key policy areas, including life sciences, defence, digitalization, competitiveness, the transatlantic economy, and other strategic priorities.
  • Preparing policy communications, including website content, publications, policy papers, newsletters, social media content, and briefing materials.
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement with ministries, parliamentarians, member companies, embassies, business organizations, and media.
  • Conducting research and analysis on issues affecting international business and contributing to new policy initiatives and advocacy projects.
  • Representing Amcham Finland at meetings, seminars, and events as appropriate.

Your skills

To succeed in this role, you are curious about politics, business, and international affairs, and have a genuine interest in how public policy shapes Finland’s competitiveness. You have excellent analytical and writing skills and enjoy turning complex topics into clear, practical insights.

You are comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, work well independently, and enjoy collaborating with others. You are equally happy writing policy content as you are building relationships with stakeholders. You thrive in a fast-moving environment where initiative, adaptability, and teamwork are highly valued.

You have:

  • A university degree in political science, economics, law, international relations, communications, or another relevant field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in both English and Finnish.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and speaking in front of groups.
  • You have a good understanding of the Finnish political system.

This role is ideal for an ambitious early-career professional looking to build an exceptional network, develop expertise in public affairs, and contribute to shaping Finland’s international business environment.
