CEO of Nestlé Nordic Michiel Kernkamp will speak about how Nestlé has engrained sustainability across everything they do, which has resulted in No. 1 position for their industry in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

Much-loved Professor of Food Economics at the University of Helsinki Bodo Steiner will discuss current trends in sustainability and their implications for leading a successful business into the future.

Assistant Professor in Food Science Kirsi Mikkonen will provide a case study about renewable material innovation and partnering with industries to find possible uses.

VP of Environment and Responsibility at UPM Sami Lundgren will talk about how UPM engages in active dialogue with their customers, suppliers and partners to innovate with groundbreaking products.

Postdoctoral researcher in Forest Economics and Marketing Jaana Korhonen will provide insights about what constitutes sustainable packaging from a perspective of a fiber-based packaging sector in Finland.

Michiel Kernkamp  is the CEO of Nestlé Nordics (Nestlé operations in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Iceland). Michiel has lived in the Netherlands, France, the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Malaysia, Japan and has been living in Copenhagen since January 2016.

Bodo Steiner

Professor of Food Economics at the University of Helsinki

Bodo Steiner is currently Professor of Food Economics at the University of Helsinki, Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta, Canada, and Head of the research group Food Economics and Business Management For Sustainable Food Systems.

Kirsi Mikkonen

Assistant Professor in Food Science at the University of Helsinki

Mikkonen is currently an Assistant Profession in Food Science at the University of Helsinki, where she researches the formation and properties of biodegradable packaging materials, among other things.

Sami Lundgren

VP of Environment and Responsibility at UPM

Sami heads “Environment and Responsibility” at UPM, a team managing corporate level environmental and responsibility topics at UPM’s global network. He’s an expert in environmental topics with a sound track record from over 25 years in the industry and in-depth experience related to the forest products supply chain.

Jaana Korhonen

Postdoctoral Researcher in Forest Economics and Marketing at the University of Helsinki

Jaana Korhonen is currently a postdoctoral researcher in Forest Economics and Marketing at the Department of Forest Sciences at the University of Helsinki. She researches topics related to the structural change of forest-based industrial markets and sustainable business management.
